TSC Steps Up PSSF Registration Drive as August 31 Deadline Approaches

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has intensified efforts to ensure teachers complete their registration on the Public Service Superannuation Fund (PSSF) Member Self-Service Portal before the August 31, 2026 deadline.

The Commission held a virtual sensitization session on August 24 to guide teachers through the registration process and address challenges affecting the uptake of the digital pension system. The initiative targets more than 300,000 teachers who are members of the PSSF.

Low Registration

The sensitization exercise comes after a relatively small number of teachers had completed their online profiles.

According to the information published by Teachers Arena, approximately 20,000 teachers out of more than 334,000 had finalized their profiles when the Commission stepped up the awareness campaign.

TSC has therefore partnered with PSSF to provide teachers with practical guidance on how to access the portal, update their information and complete the registration process.

The registration deadline was initially set for July but was later extended to August 31, 2026, following the low uptake.

Teachers Receive Online Registration Guidance

The August 24 virtual session brought together teachers from across the country through Microsoft Teams.

Participants were taken through the importance of the PSSF portal and the steps required to complete their digital profiles.

TSC has also organized a separate sensitization session for Sub-County Human Resource Officers, aimed at equipping them with the knowledge required to assist teachers experiencing difficulties with the registration process.

County Directors have been directed to mobilize teachers and ensure that eligible members complete the exercise before the deadline.

What the PSSF Portal Allows Teachers to Do

The Member Self-Service Portal is designed to give teachers greater access to their pension information.

Through the platform, members can:

– Update and verify personal and contact details.

– View pension statements and contribution records.

– Monitor pension remittances and transactions.

– Submit and track pension-related requests.

– Receive important communication from PSSF.

– Manage beneficiary information.

Teachers are also required to complete the PSSF.2 Beneficiary Nomination Form, which is important when determining who should receive benefits in the event of a member’s death.

Registration Requirements

Teachers completing the registration should have the following information and documents ready:

– National Identity Card number

– TSC personal/payroll number

– Active mobile phone number

– Valid email address

– Employment and station details

– Beneficiary information

Teachers are encouraged to ensure that the information they provide is accurate and matches their official records.

PSSF Portal Registration Deadline

The deadline for completing the registration is August 31, 2026.

Teachers who have not yet created or finalized their profiles are encouraged to complete the process before the deadline rather than waiting until the final day.

The official PSSF Member Self-Service Portal can be accessed through the PSSF online platform.

Why Teachers Should Complete the Registration

Completing the digital profile gives teachers direct access to information about their retirement savings and contributions.

It also helps ensure that beneficiary details and employment records are properly captured, potentially reducing administrative difficulties when pension benefits eventually become payable.

The move to digital pension management is part of the broader transition to a defined-contribution retirement system, where contributions from employees and the employer are accumulated and invested for members’ retirement.

With the August 31 deadline fast approaching, TSC is urging all eligible teachers who have not completed the process to register without further delay.
