TSC has announced that the World Teachers’ Day Run will be held on September 27, 2026, across all eight administrative regions of the country.
The Commission has urged teachers to register early through the TSC marathon portal to facilitate planning and coordination.
The run has been designed to promote physical fitness, wellness and solidarity among teachers as part of the wider World Teachers’ Day celebrations.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will hold the World Teachers’ Day Run on Sunday, September 27, 2026, across the country’s eight administrative regions as part of activities marking this year’s World Teachers’ Day celebrations.
The run will be held in Nairobi, Central, Eastern, North Eastern, Rift Valley, Western, Nyanza and Coast regions, bringing together teachers from different parts of the country in a sporting activity aimed at promoting physical fitness, wellness and teamwork among educators.
In a communication to teachers, the Commission urged those interested in participating to register early to facilitate effective planning and coordination. Teachers have been directed to access the registration portal through the TSC website and complete the process ahead of the event.
World Teachers’ Day celebrations provide an opportunity to recognise and appreciate the important role teachers play in shaping learners, strengthening communities and contributing to national development. Teachers are at the heart of the education system, guiding learners academically, socially and morally while helping nurture the skills and values needed for the future.
The celebrations also provide an opportunity to highlight the achievements and contributions of teachers, promote their welfare and professional development, and draw attention to challenges affecting the teaching profession.
The World Teachers’ Day Run is therefore expected to allow teachers to interact outside the classroom, promote healthy lifestyles and strengthen solidarity within the profession as the country prepares to mark the occasion. World Teachers’ Day is observed annually to honour teachers and recognise their contribution to education and the development of society.
