The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has officially released the March 2026 Business and Technical examination results, paving the way for thousands of candidates across Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions to access their performance.
In a notice issued on July 13, 2026, KNEC directed all Heads of Institutions to collect the results in person from New Mitihani House, South C Offices, during official working hours on weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
“KNEC wishes to inform all Heads of Institutions that the March 2026 Business and Technical examination results are officially released. Results are ready for collection at New Mitihani House, South C Offices on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.,” the council stated.
Fee Arrears
KNEC has emphasized that candidates will only be issued with their examination results after clearing any outstanding examination fee arrears.
The council urged institutions to ensure all pending fees are settled before collecting the results to avoid delays in releasing candidates’ performance slips.
KNEC 30 Days Results Query
School heads have also been instructed to submit any examination result queries online within 30 days from the date of the results’ release.
According to KNEC, any queries submitted after August 9, 2026, will attract a KSh 5,000 penalty fee.
“Please ensure all examination fees are cleared prior to collection. Result queries must be submitted online by Heads of Institutions within 30 days. Queries received after 9th August 2026 will attract a fee of KSh 5,000,” KNEC stated.
The council added that all official result queries must be submitted through the KNEC Query Management Information System (QMIS) portal. Institutions have been advised to strictly follow the laid-down procedures when lodging appeals or seeking clarification on candidates’ results.
Eligible Candidates for this Exam
KNEC administers Business and Technical examinations for learners pursuing middle-level professional, business, and vocational courses in TVET institutions across the country.
The examinations are taken by trainees enrolled in National Polytechnics, Technical Training Institutes (TTIs), Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) and other accredited TVET institutions after completing either primary or secondary education.
Institutional candidates make up the largest group of examination entrants, studying programmes based on KNEC-approved curricula.
The examinations also cater for Artisan Level trainees, who focus mainly on developing practical and technical skills required in various trades.
Additionally, Single and Group Candidates are allowed to register for individual subjects instead of completing an entire diploma or certificate programme in one sitting. These candidates can progressively build their qualifications through the Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced levels at their own pace.
Although KNEC has not released the exact number of candidates who sat the March 2026 examinations, previous examination statistics indicate that 43,322 candidates registered for a similar examination series in 2024, highlighting the growing importance of TVET education in Kenya.
