The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has officially opened registration for the November 2026 Business and Technical examinations, giving eligible candidates and institutions the green light to begin the mandatory online registration process.

The exercise targets institutional candidates sitting Business single and group subjects, with the examinations scheduled to run from November 16 to December 4, 2026.

Registration to Be Done Online Only

KNEC has directed all institutions to register candidates exclusively through its official online registration portal, emphasizing that manual applications will not be accepted.

The registration exercise is a crucial requirement for all candidates intending to sit the examinations. Only candidates who complete the registration process within the stipulated timelines will be eligible to receive examination timetables and participate in the national examinations.

Institutions Begin Examination Preparations

With registration now underway, training institutions are expected to embark on several administrative activities to ensure a smooth examination process.

These include:

  • Verifying candidates’ personal details.
  • Submitting Course Work Assessment (CWA) and project marks.
  • Preparing for practical examinations.
  • Completing all required examination documentation within the prescribed timelines.

The latest announcement officially marks the commencement of the registration exercise after KNEC had earlier notified institutions that the portal would soon be opened.

KNEC Releases Important Examination Timelines

Alongside the registration announcement, KNEC has published key dates that institutions must observe during the November 2026 examination cycle.

Among the most important deadlines is the submission of Course Work Assessment (CWA) and project marks, which must be completed by October 23, 2026.

Institutions will also collect advanced instructions for practical examinations on October 12, 2026, ahead of both practical and theory papers later in the examination period.

July 2027 Examination Registration Dates Announced

KNEC has also announced the registration window for the July 2027 Business and Technical examinations.

According to the council, registration will be conducted from March 1 to May 7, 2027, while the examinations will take place between July 19 and August 6, 2027.

Additionally, the council has released milestone data entry schedules for the November 2026, March 2027 and July 2027 examination series to help institutions complete all administrative processes on time.

Candidates Urged to Register Early

KNEC is encouraging institutions and candidates to complete the registration process as early as possible and strictly observe all deadlines.

Early registration will help prevent last-minute challenges, allow institutions ample time to verify candidate information, and ensure a smooth administration of the national examinations.
