The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has invited qualified teachers and tutors to apply for the 2026 KCSE and Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) examiner training.

In a notice issued on July 10, 2026, KNEC said the training will take place between July and August 2026. The programme will be conducted through a blended learning approach, with online training followed by physical residential sessions.

Successful trainees will be eligible for recruitment as KNEC examiners to mark KCSE and KJSEA examinations, depending on the Council’s staffing needs.

Training Fee

Only shortlisted applicants will be required to pay a training fee of KSh 10,500. Payment instructions will be sent through SMS and the KNEC Examiners’ Portal.

Subjects Available

KJSEA Examiner Training

KNEC is recruiting examiners in the following subjects:

  1. English
  2. Kiswahili
  3. Mathematics
  4. Integrated Science
  5. Agriculture
  6. Social Studies
  7. Christian Religious Education (CRE)
  8. Creative Arts and Sports
  9. Pre-Technical Studies

There are also vacancies for Special Needs Education (SNE) examiners in several KJSEA subjects, including English, Kiswahili, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Agriculture, Social Studies, CRE, IRE, Creative Arts and Sports, and Pre-Technical Studies.

KCSE Examiner Training

For KCSE, KNEC is seeking examiners in:

  1. Kiswahili (Insha)
  2. Biology Practical
  3. Islamic Religious Education (Papers 1 and 2)
  4. Computer Studies
  5. French
  6. German
  7. Arabic

KNEC is also training Special Needs Education (SNE) examiners in subjects such as History, Geography, CRE, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Agriculture, Business Studies, and Home Science.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be practising teachers or tutors in the relevant subject.
  • Be registered or employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) or the Public Service Commission.
  • Hold at least a Diploma in Education.
  • Have a minimum of three years’ teaching experience.
  • Be recommended by their head of institution.
  • Be aged 50 years or below.
  • Not be under interdiction or any disciplinary action.

How to Apply

Interested teachers should apply through the KNEC Examiners’ Portal.

Applicants with existing CP2 accounts should log in using their username and password. Those who have forgotten their passwords can use the Reset Password option and enter their registered mobile number in the format 2547XXXXXXXX.

Teachers without CP2 accounts should create one before submitting their applications.

After logging in, applicants should update their profiles, click “Apply for Training,” and select their preferred subject.

KNEC has advised teachers to apply early, as shortlisted candidates will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis, provided they meet all the required qualifications and submit the necessary documents.
