The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced 34,016 promotion vacancies for teachers across the country, opening applications for positions in primary schools, secondary schools, Teachers Training Colleges (TTCs) and Special Needs Education (SNE) institutions.

In a notice published on July 25, TSC invited qualified teachers to apply for the vacancies through its online recruitment portal.
“The Teachers Service Commission is a Constitutional Commission established under Article 237(1) of the Constitution. Pursuant to its mandate, the Commission invites applications from suitably qualified teachers for the following posts in line with the Career Progression Guidelines,” stated TSC.
The vacancies are spread across 30 positions as follows:

Requirements for the Promotion Vacancies
Senior Teacher II – 13,490 Posts
Applicants seeking promotion to Senior Teacher II must have served as Primary Teacher I (T-Scale 6/C1) for at least three years, obtained a satisfactory performance appraisal rating, demonstrated the ability to supervise, mentor, and provide professional support to other teachers, and meet any other requirements set by the Commission.

Senior Master IV – 5,956 Posts
Teachers applying for Senior Master IV are required to have served as Secondary Teacher I (T-Scale 8/C3) for a minimum of three years, attained a satisfactory performance appraisal rating, demonstrated leadership and mentorship abilities, and meet any other requirements prescribed by TSC.
Senior Teacher I – 4,210 Posts
To qualify for Senior Teacher I, applicants must have served as Senior Teacher II (T-Scale 7/C2) for at least three years, have a satisfactory performance appraisal rating, demonstrate the ability to supervise and mentor fellow teachers, and meet any additional requirements set by the Commission.
Deputy Headteacher II (Regular) – 3,075 Posts
Applicants must have served as Senior Teacher I (T-Scale 8/C3) for a minimum of three years, obtained a satisfactory performance appraisal rating, demonstrated leadership and mentorship skills, and meet any other requirements deemed necessary by TSC.
Deputy Headteacher I (Regular) – 1,865 Posts
To be eligible, teachers must have served as Deputy Headteacher II (T-Scale 9/C4) for at least three years, have a satisfactory performance appraisal rating, demonstrate the ability to supervise and mentor teachers, and meet any additional requirements prescribed by the Commission.
Senior Master III – 1,665 Posts
Applicants must have served as Senior Master IV (T-Scale 9/C4) for a minimum of three years, obtained a satisfactory performance appraisal rating, demonstrated the ability to supervise and mentor teachers, and meet any other requirements set by TSC.
How to Apply
Teachers interested in the promotion opportunities are required to submit their applications online through the TSC recruitment portal (www.teachersonline.go.ke) no later than Monday, August 10. The Commission has stated that manual applications will not be accepted.
Applicants should log in to the portal using their TSC credentials, select the position they qualify for, complete the online application form, and submit it before the deadline.
TSC further noted that candidates who are successful during the interview process will be required to present valid Chapter Six clearance documents before they are appointed.
The Commission also said successful applicants will be deployed to schools and institutions where the advertised vacancies exist.
