The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has directed all teachers enrolled under the Public Service Superannuation Scheme (PSSS) to register on the Public Service Superannuation Fund (PSSF) Member Self-Service Portal by July 12, 2026.
In Circular No. 11/2026 issued on July 9, Acting TSC CEO Eveleen Mitei said the registration is mandatory for all teachers under the pension scheme. The move is part of the government’s transition to a digital pension management system.
Why Teachers Must Register
The government introduced the Public Service Superannuation Scheme to replace the old non-contributory pension system with a Defined Contribution Scheme. Under this arrangement, both teachers and TSC contribute towards retirement savings, which are managed by the Public Service Superannuation Fund (PSSF).
Registering on the Member Self-Service Portal allows teachers to:
– View their pension contribution statements.
– Confirm that contributions are correctly remitted.
– Update personal and contact details.
– Submit and track service requests.
– Nominate beneficiaries to receive benefits if they pass away.
Low Registration Numbers Raise Concern
According to TSC, about 334,442 teachers are enrolled in the PSSS, but only around 20,000 have registered on the online portal.
Teachers who fail to register risk delays in accessing pension benefits when they retire, resign, or leave service. They may also miss important updates from the Fund and be unable to verify their contribution records.
How to Register
Teachers should have their TSC number, National ID, and current contact details ready before registering.
Follow these simple steps:
1. Visit the PSSF Member Self-Service Portal.
2. Create your account and verify your details.
3. Update your personal information, including your phone number and email address.
4. Review your pension contribution records.
5. Complete and submit the PSSF.2 Beneficiary Nomination Form to ensure your benefits are paid to the right beneficiaries.
Teachers experiencing challenges during registration can seek assistance from their TSC county or sub-county offices.
Deadline
TSC has instructed regional, county, and sub-county directors to ensure every eligible teacher registers before July 12, 2026.
The Commission says the registration exercise is an important step towards improving pension management and ensuring teachers can easily access their retirement information online.
Teachers are therefore encouraged to complete the registration as soon as possible to avoid last-minute challenges and secure their retirement benefits.
