The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has officially commenced the payment of contracted professionals who participated in the administration, marking, and management of the 2025 national examinations, bringing relief to thousands of teachers and education officials who had been waiting for their dues.
Reports received from different parts of the country indicate that a number of examiners have already received their payments in their bank accounts. The payments mark the beginning of the long-awaited disbursement exercise that had generated anxiety among contracted professionals following weeks of anticipation.
The development is expected to reassure thousands of teachers who offered various services during the 2025 examination period. Many had expressed concerns over the delay, with some taking to social media and professional forums to seek clarification on when the payments would be processed.
KNEC contracted professionals play a critical role in ensuring the successful administration of national examinations. They include examiners responsible for marking candidates’ scripts, supervisors, invigilators, centre managers, distribution officers, and Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Sub-County Directors who coordinate examination activities within their respective jurisdictions.

Supervisors and invigilators oversee the conduct of examinations in centres across the country, while Centre Managers coordinate the entire examination exercise to ensure KNEC regulations are strictly followed.
