The Teachers service Commission (TSC) is set to use its new digital system dubbed Teachers Transfer Online System to to implement mass transfer of teachers in April 2026. TSC April 2026 Mass Transfer Advisory
This move by the Commission to transfer teachers is part of its plan to ensure fair distribution of teachers across schools under the new curriculum Based Establishment (CBE) framework.
This system will help the commission to determine the number of teachers needed in a particular school depending on the class streams, curriculum structure and the number of weekly lesson time.
How will TSC conduct April teacher Transfers?
This new system after identifying the teacher gaps in various institutions, those schools that have surplus teachers, their staff will be cut down and the surplus teachers moved to schools experiencing deficits.
In February 2026, the Teachers Service Commission directed county and sub county Directors to obtain accurate details from school heads to facilitate balancing of teachers in schools.
From the data collected, the TSC system will be used to analyse this information with a view of determining schools that require more teachers and those that need fewer teachers.
The data that was requested from school heads by the commission include:
- Name of School
- Region/County/Sub county
- IPPD Code
- Category i.e Junior School regular
- School Enrollment
- Number of Male and female teachers
- Total number of Classes
- Number of Surplus teachers
- Number of Shortages
- Remarks i.e understaffed or overstaffed
What is the workability of the TSC transfer online system work?
If there are teachers who wish to be transfered from their current station to another station need to submit their requests via the online digital platform. Requests submitted manually will not be accepted.
The system will use the collected data to swap teachers from one region/school without human interference. If a teacher is dissatisfied, they have two options either to accept or reject the swap.
This system will replace the old version where teachers had to manually submit their request via the commission after which review is done before a verdict is issued by the commission’s officials.
This module was introduced in 2025 August then underwent trials for three months before it was launched in 2025 November. This online digital platform is expected to improve efficiency, transparency and fairness in the whole transfer process.
While applying for a swap/transfer, the teacher will be given two attempts where the first one will last for 90 days for consideration before a second application window of 90 days is given until a swap mate is found. If a swap mate is not found, then the teacher will receive a regret letter indicating the swap mate was not found.
Once you have been transfered from your current station, you will stay in your new station for at least three years before initiating another transfer request.
Is the Teacher Transfer Online System Efficient
The old system of transfers was bureaucratic in nature where officials in the commission had to analyse and either approve or reject your transfer request. This system will eliminate this bureaucracy that has been hindering teacher transfers in the past.
In this new system, teachers will not be required to bribe anyone for them to be transfered. Since the application is purely online, automated with no human intervention, the system will fairly grant teachers transfers fairly and genuinely with no human interference.
Similarly, the system has now edged out school heads from either accepting or rejecting teacher’s transfer request.
This system will also send an alert to the concerned teacher once the transfer had been approved and letter sent directly to the school head. Therefore, teachers will not have to pay bribes in order to receive their transfer letters as it has been in the past.
Teachers who have not serves for mandatory five years can now breath a sigh of relieve as the system allows these teachers to place transfer requests without bias.
Depending on the staffing needs in the county or sub county, the system in April will move teachers either within the same sub county or across different sub counties.
TSC April 2026 Mass Transfer will greatly affect teachers who have stayed in the same station for many years
